Call for Trainers – Youth Leadership Programme (YLP)

Background

Youth Leadership Programme, supported by UNDP, in partnership with UNICEF, IOM, and the Municipality of Tripoli, with funds from the Peacebuilding Fund, implemented by Adyan Foundation.

The programme aims to strengthen social cohesion and local stability by empowering youth to actively engage in their communities, contribute to dialogue across differences, and develop initiatives aligned with local priorities.

YLP is closely linked to the Mechanism for Stability and Local Development (MSLD), ensuring that youth participation is anchored in real community needs and contributes to broader peacebuilding and local development efforts.

 

Purpose of the Assignment

Adyan Foundation is seeking qualified trainers to deliver empowerment training sessions for youth participants in Tripoli.

The training component is a core entry point of the programme and is designed to support youth in building leadership skills, strengthening social cohesion, and developing actionable initiative ideas.

Training Modules

Trainers may apply for one or more of the following modules:

  • Leadership in Peacebuilding

Strengthening participants’ understanding of leadership as a practice that contributes to social cohesion and conflict-sensitive engagement in fragile contexts.

  • Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship

Equipping participants to approach community challenges through innovative, socially-driven, and sustainable solution thinking.

  • Public Speaking and Advocacy

Developing participants’ ability to communicate effectively, influence constructively, and advocate for community issues.

  • Navigating Stakeholders and Local Systems

Enhancing participants’ ability to engage relevant stakeholders and understand local systems, dynamics, and power relations.

  • Designing Solutions for Social Cohesion

Supporting participants in transforming community challenges into structured, actionable, and context-relevant initiative ideas.

  • From Ideas to Action: Operational Readiness & Digital Engagement

Preparing participants to translate ideas into clear, feasible initiatives while promoting responsible digital engagement and constructive narratives.

Scope of Work

Selected trainers will be expected to:

  • Deliver interactive, participatory training sessions (2.5–3 hours each)
  • Apply youth-centered and experiential learning methodologies
  • Facilitate inclusive and respectful group engagement
  • Adapt examples to the Tripoli context while maintaining session objectives
  • Use practical tools such as group work, simulations, and reflection exercises
  • Coordinate with the project team on delivery and logistics
  • Submit a short reflection note after each session, highlighting key observations

Expected Deliverables

  • Delivery of assigned training sessions
  • Session preparation aligned with the provided module structure
  • Participation in coordination or alignment meetings, as needed
  • Submission of short post-session reflection notes

Required Profile

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in training, facilitation, or capacity building
  • Proven experience working with youth and/or in social cohesion, peacebuilding, or civic engagement
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to manage diverse group dynamics
  • Good understanding of the Lebanese context, particularly Tripoli
  • Excellent command of Arabic (English is an asset)

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience in participatory and experiential learning methodologies
  • Ability to ensure inclusive participation across gender and background
  • Sensitivity to conflict dynamics and diversity considerations
  • Ability to translate concepts into practical tools and exercises

Duration and Modality

This is a short-term assignment under the Youth Leadership Programme.

The training session will be delivered in person in Tripoli, according to the programme schedule.

The number of sessions assigned will depend on expertise and programme needs.
