Distribution Volunteer

The Distribution Volunteer will support the planning and implementation of distributions by assisting with site setup, beneficiary flow management, parcel handling, verification support, and on-site coordination. The role requires close teamwork with INARA staff, adherence to instructions, and respectful engagement with beneficiaries to ensure distributions are conducted safely, efficiently, and with dignity.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Pre-Distribution Preparation

Assist INARA staff in setting up distribution sites, including arranging waiting areas, entry and exit points, and parcel handover stations.

Support the organization and stacking of food parcels to ensure efficient distribution flow.

Participate in pre-distribution briefings to understand daily plans, roles, safety procedures, and safeguarding expectations.

Help prepare distribution materials such as beneficiary lists, signage, and basic crowd guidance markers.

2. Distribution Support and Parcel Handling

Assist in the physical handling, carrying, and organized handover of kits to beneficiaries.

Ensure that each verified beneficiary receives the correct kit according to the distribution plan.

Support orderly movement of beneficiaries through the distribution process to avoid congestion or confusion.

Help manage distribution pacing to ensure efficiency while maintaining dignity and respect.

3. Beneficiary Verification and Guidance

Support INARA staff during beneficiary verification by guiding beneficiaries to the appropriate verification point.

Assist beneficiaries in understanding the distribution process and where to go next.

Support collection of signatures or thumbprints on distribution lists when requested by supervisors.

Immediately flag any discrepancies, missing names, or concerns to the Distribution Team Lead.

4. Crowd Management and Safety

Assist with crowd control to maintain calm, safe, and respectful distribution environments.

Support elderly persons, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and families with small children during distributions.

Monitor surroundings for potential safety, protection, or security risks and report concerns immediately.

Follow all safety instructions provided by INARA staff at distribution sites.

5. Conduct, Ethics, and Accountability

Treat all beneficiaries with respect, patience, and impartiality at all times.

Ensure non-discrimination based on gender, age, disability, family status, or background.

Maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information and personal data.

Adhere strictly to INARA’s code of conduct, safeguarding, and child protection policies.

Refrain from requesting or accepting gifts, favors, or compensation from beneficiaries.

6. Coordination and Reporting

Follow instructions from the Distribution Team Lead and program staff at all times.

Report distribution progress, challenges, or incidents to supervisors promptly.

Assist with post-distribution activities, including site clean-up and organization.

Participate in brief end-of-day debriefings when requested.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Strong commitment to humanitarian values and community service.

Ability to work cooperatively in a team and follow instructions under pressure.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical ability to assist with lifting and moving food parcels.

Prior volunteering or community engagement experience is an asset but not required.
