MHPSS Consultant

Humanity & Inclusion, the new name of Handicap International (HI), is an independent and impartial aid and development organization with no religious or political affiliations operating in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. We work alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable people to help meet their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Since the organization was first founded in 1982, we have worked in 62 countries in support to development effort or in response to emergencies.

HI has been working in Lebanon since 1992 in the Palestinian refugee camps and clusters (rehabilitation and promoting the rights of people with disabilities, and mental health work). The association has since continued to provide assistance through different sectors mainly Rehabilitation, Mental Health, Inclusive and Specialized Education, Mine Action, and Inclusive Humanitarian Action.

In the context of the ongoing emergency in Lebanon, displaced populations particularly children, including those with disabilities, and their caregivers are facing increased vulnerabilities due to limited access to basic services, disruption of daily life, and heightened psychosocial distress. These conditions are further compounded by inadequate access to essential material assistance, negatively impacting dignity, protection, and overall wellbeing.

To respond to these urgent needs, the project aims to deliver an integrated emergency response combining Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions with the provision of basic needs assistance in collective shelters. The intervention focuses on improving psychosocial wellbeing, reducing distress, and strengthening coping capacities among children and their caregivers, while also addressing immediate material needs through the distribution of essential kits.

HI is seeking to select an MHPSS consultant to ensure the effective design, implementation, and monitoring of inclusive MHPSS activities.

The MHPSS Consultant will play a key role in establishing safe and inclusive spaces for children, facilitating recreational and psychoeducational sessions, supporting caregivers through awareness and parenting guidance, and ensuring the identification and referral of vulnerable cases to appropriate specialized services.
