HOU2026 17 DTM Enumerator (Hourly) - 40 positions (various locations)

Organizational Context and Scope:

IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. IOM’s Data and Research Unit aims to contribute to a broader and better understanding of migration patterns and processes at community, national and regional levels, as well as to inform community-based assistance, planning, by informing mission level policy and advocacy. IOM Lebanon assesses the needs of migrants in the country by implementing assessments and research studies to inform IOM’s and the international community’s response. The enumerator works under the direct supervision of the DTM team leader and DRU Program Assistant.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Attend interview/survey/distribution training session;
  2. Coordinate with data collection supervisor on how to carry out interviews/surveys and to report interview/survey completion;
  3. Conduct interviews/surveys with respondents at IOM main office or in the field or using appropriate interview/survey techniques including, proper introduction to the project, receiving consent for participation, asking questions in a clear manner as worded in the provided questionnaire, and probing to clarify unclear answers;
  4. Accurately record responses on the questionnaire paper or electronic form;
  5. Ensure all interviews/surveys are completed in their entirety and verify the accuracy of written responses before submitting an electronic form or handing in a paper one;
  6. Assist the IOM staff members during distribution activities in the field;
  7. Maintain the security and confidentiality of all information;
  8. Report problems in obtaining data and other challenges encountered, so as to support evaluation of data collection mechanism.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:

  • Minimum high school diploma

Experience:

  • Two years of experience as enumerator

Skills:

  • Capacity to work independently, efficiently and with flexibility.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Using data collection tools

Languages:

  • For this position, fluency in English and Arabic are required (oral and written).

Working knowledge of French is an advantage.

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
