Senior Filmmaking Mentor and Tutor

The Senior Filmmaking Mentor & Tutor is the creative and pedagogical lead of the filmmaking of the program.

The selected candidate report to the program Manager on all strategic and key decisions, and are supported by two dedicated team members: a Filmmaking Trainer & Editor, who co-facilitates technical sessions and takes the lead on editing and post-production; and an Assistant Producer, who manages all field-related logistics and operational needs. Together, this three-person team is responsible for co-designing and facilitating the full training curriculum and for mentoring participants through the entire production process from concept development to finalised short documentary films.

The Senior Filmmaking Mentor & Tutor’s role covers the full training cycle: He/she works with a cohort of 12 women with mixed profiles: young creatives (filmmakers, podcasters, journalists, theatre practitioners, and storytellers with minimal professional experience) and women actively engaged in environmental and community advocacy (activists, agricultural workers, mountain guides, foragers, researchers). The pedagogy must be accessible, participatory, and confidence-building, adapted to participants who may have no prior experience with camera or filmmaking tools.

This creative training cycle results in the co-production of 4 original short documentary films (maximum 10 minutes each).

Please note that the second cycle of the program is planned for 2027 and will take place in a different region. The selected Senior Filmmaking Mentor & Tutor under this Request for Proposals may be considered for contract renewal for the second cycle. Such renewal will be subject to an assessment of the security situation on the ground, as well as program requirements.
