Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.
In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities.
Under the supervision of Action Against Hunger’s Field Officer, the Daily Worker is responsible to implement and monitor WaSH/Shelter/FSL/Nutrition and Basic Assistance (BA) activities and follow up.
The Daily Worker will be responsible for the following:
- Implement daily field activities and ensure project objectives and tasks are delivered on time and with high quality.
- Identify and respond to emergencies and implement activities for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and affected populations in collective shelters and red zones.
- Oversee and ensure the delivery of assistance at collective shelter and community level while coordinating with field teams to achieve common goals.
- Support emergency interventions according to the daily worker’s abilities.
- Provide support to project teams in assessing WaSH, Shelter, FSL, Nutrition, and Basic Assistance needs and related response activities.
- Ensure WaSH, Shelter, FSL, and Basic Assistance responses are aligned with Inter-Agency Sector standards.
- Collaborate efficiently with the team by prioritizing needs and targets and reporting progress clearly and concisely.
- Support documentation processes including reporting, scanning, archiving, and other related administrative tasks.
- Respect the security rules outlined in the mission and base security plan.
- Promote safe and equitable environments through the application of anti-harassment and gender policies.
- Ensure knowledge of and compliance with ACF Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
Qualifications of the Daily Worker:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge in any of the following: Cash based program - Nutrition - Food security - Water supply and sanitation supply systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks covering different objectives simultaneously to a high quality
- Knowledge of direct community work with vulnerable or at-risk communities
- Experience in the humanitarian sector is desirable
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to manage stress effectively
- Ability to manage time and priorities well
- Clear communicator with excellent inter-personal skills
- Ability to work with a degree of autonomy on set tasks
- Fluent Arabic, Fluency in written and spoken English
- Good skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and good skills in smart phones

Remuneration Package:
- Daily wage:
Full Working Day 40 USD A total of 6 working hours per day
Half Working Day 20 USD A total of 3 working hours per day
- Working days:
Maximum 9 days/month according to the Lebanese labor law
- Duty Station:
The duty station is officially in Tyre office, from Monday to Friday, with an expected support of 6 hours per day. However, due to the current emergency, an office has been established in Saida, and the current duty station will be Saida until operations return to Tyre.
