Berghof Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization supporting people in conflict in their efforts to achieve sustainable peace through conflict transformation and peacebuilding. Headquartered in Berlin, the organization is run by a diverse team and works with local partners around the world. Berghof Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Insider Mediators / Community Facilitators in Lebanon for our project “Rapid Response - host community engagement initiative”.

Each of the local coordinators will act as the main liaison between the PM and the local communities in Bekaa,  Mount Lebanon, Beirut and Saida, Tripoli and Akkar.

Key Responsibilities: 

As Local Coordinator, your tasks will include: 

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with the team to map target areas and coordinate day-to-day operations and programmatic activities. 
• Assist in planning and organizing dialogue meetings, events, and training programs in the designated region, actively participating in these activities. 
• Prepare detailed field progress reports and ensure comprehensive documentation of all work activities.
• Cultivate positive working relationships with partners and stakeholders in designated area to support the project's success.
• Prepare group discussions to identify socio-economic needs and develop initiatives/projects to effectively address them.  

Education:   

• Bachelor degree in political science, peace studies or related field or relevant work experience in development projects 

Experience:   

Qualifications: 

• Strong preference for being a local of the designated region and residing in it. 
• Understanding of Lebanon's political situation, well-read of news, and interest in historical research.  
• Excellent communication and representational skills, including proficiency in written and oral Arabic, and communication across diverse cultural contexts. 
• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving project needs and working schedules, and manage stressful situations properly. 
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively. 
• Relevant experience working with Local actors, local development and social cohesion projects within a larger team in Lebanon
• Good reporting skills
• Thorough knowledge of the Lebanese social and political context
• Proven work experience in the Arab region, preferably Lebanon
