Terms of Reference (ToR)

Position: Trainer of educators – Mental Health backgroundProject: Capacity Building and Structures for Community Development and Resilience through a robust community safety net in LebanonBackground and Context:

Tabitha for Relief and Development works to promote justice, dignity, and lasting change for people and communities affected by poverty, exclusion, and crisis. We aim to support individuals and communities so that they can flourish, with a strong commitment to partnership, inclusion, and sustainable impact.

As part of the BMZ project, Tabitha will implement a capacity-building intervention to enhance educators’ ability to understand, identify, and respond to the mental health and psychosocial needs of children and adolescents in school settings.

In this context, Tabitha is seeking an experienced trainer to design and deliver two in-person training workshops for educators in the North and Beirut/Mount Lebanon areas. The training will focus on mental health in school settings, child developmental stages, common difficulties faced by students, child protection considerations, early identification, and referral pathways.

The trainer will work closely with Tabitha’s MHPSS Coordinator and relevant project staff to develop the training agenda and materials, facilitate the sessions, support the evaluation of training outcomes, and provide recommendations for follow-up.

1. Objectives of the Assignment

The assignment goal is to increase awareness about mental health in school environments by supporting educators in developing skills in identification, early detection and referral for common difficulties faced by students from different ages. 

2. Scope of Training

Tabitha for Relief and Development is calling for one individual trainer to conduct two in person training workshops focusing on empowering educators in Mental Health in School environments.

The trainer will deliver 2 full-day training workshops targeting 30 educators in North and BML areas. Key learning outcomes should include:

  • Introduction to the importance of Mental Health in Schools and reflecting educator’s role in protecting good practices.
  • Increasing knowledge about child developmental stages.
  • Building capacity in identifying common difficulties faced by children in classrooms.
  • Promoting awareness about child protection standards
  • Increasing early detection, identification and referral skills.
3. Collaboration & Reporting LinesThe trainer will work in close coordination with Tabitha’s MHPSS Coordinator. The trainer will be responsible for developing the training agenda and materials in consultation with the project team, incorporating feedback, and ensuring that the training content is aligned with the objectives of the BMZ education activity.The trainer will report directly to the MHPSS Coordinator and will coordinate with relevant project staff for logistical and technical follow-up before, during, and after the training sessio4. Duration of the Assignment
The assignment is expected to start by the end of May 2026 and to be completed by the end of June 2026.5. Qualifications of the trainer
  • Relevant academic background in education, pedagogy, educational psychology, psychology, social work, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training sessions for educators, teachers, or school-based staff.
  • Good knowledge of mental health, child development, child protection, and referral pathways.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience working with NGOs or education/protection-related projects is an asset.
6. Deliverables
  • Conducting 2 full-day training courses in North and BML for 30 educators.
  • Prepare and deliver two full-day in-person training workshops targeting 30 educators in the North and Beirut/Mount Lebanon areas.
  • Co-develop the training agenda, content, and supporting materials in coordination with Tabitha’s project team.
  • Support the development of simple pre/post tools or other measures to evaluate training outcomes.
  • Participate in one online follow-up/supervisory session to review training progress, feedback, and recommendations.
  • Submit a brief final training report summarizing the sessions conducted, participants reached, key observations, and recommendations.
  • Trainer fee per training: Per session. Trainer to provide quotation per session subject to 8.5 % deduction.
7. Reporting

The trainer will provide regular updates to the MHPSS coordinator.

The trainer will provide regular updates to the MHPSS Coordinator throughout the assignment. At the end of the assignment, the trainer will submit a brief final report including the training dates, locations, number of participants, key topics covered, participant feedback, and recommendations for follow-up.
