Civil Engineer


Assignment

The Civil Engineer is in charge of providing technical civil engineering expertise in three distinct but concurrent areas of work:

Supervision of water fixture installations, and

Infrastructure advisory services for MSMEs requiring engineering support.

 Ensuring compliance with national standards and best practices in sustainable water management., drafting technical project documents, and ensuring the targets set by the Project Manager are met according to the set timeframe.

Functions

 

A. Installation of Water Fixtures

Evaluate existing plumbing systems.

Recommend and oversee the installation of water-efficient fixtures (e.g., taps, balloons).

Coordinate procurement and installation logistics with contractors or facility managers.

Ensure compliance with water efficiency and plumbing standards.

Provide technical trainings for workers.

B. MSME Infrastructure Support

Provide technical assistance to MSMEs on infrastructure needs (e.g., site layout, drainage, water supply).

Review and advise on engineering aspects of MSME expansion or upgrade plans.

Conduct training sessions or technical workshops for MSME staff or local contractors.

Liaise with government agencies and other partners on regulatory requirements affecting MSME infrastructure.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s degree is an asset).

 

Professional Experience:

At least 3 years of civil engineering experience, with:

Experience in rainwater harvesting system design and implementation.

Experience overseeing installation of water fixtures/plumbing infrastructure.

Experience working with MSMEs in a technical advisory, construction, or infrastructure support capacity.

 

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in AutoCAD, or equivalent engineering software.

Proficiency in BOQ preparation, site supervision, and quality assurance.

Good understanding of local and international plumbing, water management, and building codes.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks concurrently and independently.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

Ability to draft detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner;

Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people;
