Situation Update
Despite the ceasefire, attacks on healthcare continue. Since the last reporting period, four attacks on health care have been reported, resulting in one death and six injuries among health-care workers. Since the onset of hostilities on 2 March, a total of 155 attacks on health care have resulted in 104 deaths and 244 injuries among health-care workers. These continued violations underscore the urgent need for the protection of medical personnel and facilities and full respect for international humanitarian law. Health service availability remains severely constrained due to extensive facility closures and limited operational capacity. Three hospitals and 41 PHCCs remain closed, while an additional six PHCCs provide restricted services only, mainly for chronic disease management and emergencies. Due to the escalations, 6 hospitals have still not resumed delivery services. They are prioritizing only ER services in Tyre, Bent Jbeil, Hasbaya, and Nabatieh districts thereby limiting maternal health access in these districts for almost two months. Furthermore, due to the security situation, partners reported a decrease in the number of deliveries in Baalback Gov. Hospital compared to 2025. These constraints are overburdening functional facilities and critically limiting service coverage, particularly in high-need, underserved, and return areas, further restricting access to essential care. Health partners continue to report that meal frequency among displaced pregnant women in shelters continues to be suboptimal in assessed collective shelters. This negatively aects both the mother and the fetus, increasing the risk of complications The National Mental Health Program (NMHP) supported by Health sector partner is conducting self-care training sessions for essential burnout prevention for frontliners across Lebanon. These informed sessions focus on self-regulation and emotional resilience, bridging the gap between recreational eld engagement and professional protection standards for frontline workers in high-pressure emergency settings. 8 specialized sessions are being conducted throughout May in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the Bekaa, the South, and the North.
