Communication Officer

Key Responsibilities:   

1. Social Media & Content Creation 

Manage Nusaned's social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and others) including daily content publishing, community interaction, and audience growth. 

Develop and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned with project timelines, organizational priorities, and donor communication requirements. 

Create engaging and accurate content, including posts, stories, reels, graphics, and captions, in both Arabic and English. 

Ensure all published content complies with Nusaned's brand guidelines, ethical communication standards, informed consent policies, and the 'Do No Harm' principle. 

Monitor social media performance metrics, track engagement trends, and prepare monthly analytics reports with actionable recommendations. 

Coordinate with field officers and program teams to ensure timely and representative content collection from project sites. 

 

2. Field Documentation & Project Communication 

Conduct regular field visits to document project activities, beneficiary stories, and on-the-ground implementation through photography, video, and written narratives. 

Produce high-quality documentation materials including success stories, case studies, field reports, and testimonials for internal and external use. 

Ensure all documentation upholds beneficiary dignity, confidentiality, and informed consent, particularly when working with vulnerable populations. 

Archive all communication materials (photos, videos, reports, and social media content) in a structured, organized manner in line with organizational and donor requirements. 

Support the preparation of visibility and communication materials for project activities, events, and awareness campaigns. 

 

3. Donor Communication Coordination 

Review donor grant agreements to identify and track communication, visibility, and branding obligations relevant to each project. 

Coordinate with the Project Manager and PDQ team to ensure all donor communication requirements are met within agreed timeframes. 

Prepare and submit communication deliverables to donors (reports, visibility products, photos, stories) in line with grant-specific requirements and deadlines. 

Liaise with donors on communication-related queries, providing timely and accurate responses in coordination with senior management. 

Maintain a donor communication tracker to monitor obligations, submission deadlines, and compliance status across all active grants. 

 

4. Coordination with Project Manager & Workplan 

Coordinate closely with Project Managers to align communication activities with project workplans, implementation milestones, and reporting cycles. 

Participate in project coordination meetings to stay updated on field activities, program updates, and emerging communication needs. 

Support the development of project-specific communication plans, ensuring communication outputs are integrated into overall project workplans. 

Prepare and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and final donor reports by providing communication-related sections and supporting documentation. 

Provide timely communication materials and updates to support project monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities in coordination with the MEAL team. 

 

5. Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) & Safeguarding 

Support the management of digital feedback and complaints channels, ensuring community messages, comments, and inquiries are acknowledged and forwarded to relevant teams. 

Coordinate with the Safeguarding/PSEA Focal Point to ensure sensitive communications and complaints are handled in line with AAP and PSEA protocols. 

Uphold the highest standards of data protection and confidentiality when handling beneficiary information, images, or testimonials. 

 

6. General 

Comply with Nusaned's policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct at all times. 

Represent Nusaned professionally in all internal and external communications. 

Perform any additional tasks as requested by the Communication Manager or senior management. 

 

Qualification & Experience   

Education 

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field. 

 

Experience 

1–2 years of experience in communications, social media management, content creation, or a related field. 

Experience in an NGO, humanitarian, or development organization is a strong asset. 

Demonstrated experience in field documentation, storytelling, or producing content from program activities. 

Familiarity with donor communication requirements and grant reporting is an advantage. 

 

Knowledge & Skills 

Strong content creation skills (written and visual), including copywriting, photography, and basic video editing. 

Proficiency in graphic design tools — Canva is required; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign) is a strong advantage. 

Good understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and digital analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics, etc.). 

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a content calendar and multiple deadlines simultaneously. 

Knowledge of AAP, PSEA, ethical communication, and informed consent principles is a strong asset. 

Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English, spoken and written. 

High level of professionalism, integrity, and cultural sensitivity. 

Ability to work under pressure, adapt quickly in dynamic humanitarian environments, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Supervisory Responsibility: None 

Works Closely With: PDQ Manager, Project Managers, MEAL, People & Culture, Field Officers, Safeguarding & AAP Focal Point, Department Heads, and Volunteers
