Public Health Officer AMR/IPC

  1. Job Description

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the head of the Preventive Medicine Department, the Public Health Officer will be responsible to provide technical support in establishing the national AMR/IPC program, implementing the AMR National Action Plan in Lebanon.

  1. Planned timelines

Start date: June 1, 2026;

End date:  December 31, 2026

 

  1. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the update of the AMR national plan.
  • Assist in developing/updating internal policies/regulations related to the different components of the AMR program when needed.
  • Organize meetings to strengthen coordination among the major actors around the AMR program in Lebanon under one health approach.
  • Assist in the national data management and reporting on the AMR surveillance (GLASS reporting).
  • Account of activities related to the periodic Proficiency Testing as part of the quality assurance hospital laboratories and providing feedback to laboratories on results (in order to standardize organism identification and antibiotic susceptibility measurements) as needed.
  • Coordinate/organize training and refresher workshops proceedings on: infection control, identification and susceptibility measurement-in follow up to Proficiency Testing findings; in line with the standardized national guidelines, protocols and SOPs, as needed.
  • Prepare a monthly report about related performed activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  1. Specific requirements

6.1 Qualifications:

  • Master in Public Health, Microbiology, Communicable Diseases studies or other related fields.
  • Professional degree in a medical field (Pharmacy, nursing…) is an asset.

6.2 Experience

  • A minimum of 5-7 years relevant work experience at the MOPH
  • Proven experience in Glass reporting program.

6.3 Skills

- Strong ability to research, analyze, evaluate and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information;

- General ability to draft ideas and concepts, clearly and concisely in written and oral form;

- Good knowledge of communicable diseases response guidelines and surveillance.

- Strong coordination and communication skills;

- High computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Glass platform .
