About

The AUB Nature Conservation Center (AUB-NCC) is the leading transdisciplinary academic center addressing nature conservation in the MENA region. We leverage the expertise and experience of AUB faculties, research staff, and volunteers to tackle the region’s most pressing environmental challenges.​

Missi​​on​​​​​​

Our mission is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and enable people to become the guardians and beneficiaries of their own natural heritage through research, education, community development, and knowledge dissemination. 

The Center is committed to the transition to a more environmentally conscious world by integrating sustainable development goals (SDG) into our society's economies and the environment through resourceful innovation, research, and development. 

 

Priority Areas​​​​​

Environmental Threats​​: Applying a citizen science approach to develop actions that address air, water, and soil contamination​

Community Development: Co-evaluating the beneficial impact of people’s interaction with nature and co-creating livelihood opportunities for everyone to gain from.

Biodiversity Conservation: Applying the concept ​of sustainable ecosystem management to deliver a combination of ecosystem services with resilience to environmental and social change.
