DCA has been working in the Middle East for more than 50 years.
In Lebanon DCA has developed and maintained both a solid and sustained working relationship with the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC). Throughout the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990), DCA was present in Lebanon working with refugees and supplying coordinating personnel and nurses to the MECC. In the aftermath of the war and up through the nineties, DCA became engaged in reconstruction activities rebuilding destroyed homes and institutions in villages in the area east of Saida and in the Chouf region.
In July 2006, war erupted between Israel and Hezbollah leading to extensive destruction of houses and property in southern Lebanon.
This war also resulted in widespread contamination of land where hundreds of thousands of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO
