Ibtissama: Clown Doctors for hospitalized children in Lebanon
The mission of Ibtissama is to bring smiles, fun and laughter to hospitalized children, especially those with chronic illnesses, through weekly visits held by specialized “Clown Doctors”.
Ibtissama Clown Doctors are part of the routine of the pediatric oncology and regular pediatric wards of 4 hospitals in Lebanon:Rafic Hariri University Hospital, American University of Beirut-Medical Center (AUBMC) including the Children Cancer Center (St. Jude), Hotel Dieu de France and Makassed General Hospital.
Ibtissama's idea, training and work protocols are modeled on those of the successful Theodora Foundation in Switzerland, operating in more than ten countries across Europe.
