The International Rescue Committee condemns the killing of two medical staff from our Palestinian partner, Juzoor for Health & Social Development, in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City two days ago. The doctor and nurse were returning from work at an IRC-supported medical point where they were providing essential medical treatment.

As Yemen marks ten years of conflict and crisis, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) warns that a widening chasm between rising humanitarian needs and the funding required to alleviate them risks leaving millions of Yemenis without access to food, healthcare and protection services.

We welcome yesterday’s announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon and urge its implementation. This much-needed multilateral diplomatic effort provides a critical opportunity to scale up humanitarian assistance, ensuring those affected by the conflict receive the help they desperately need.

On 26 November, a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel was announced. Coming into effect on 27 November, the agreement stipulates a 60-day cessation of hostilities, which negotiators have described as the foundation of a lasting truce, ending nearly 14 months of hostilities.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, more than 3,200 individuals, including 200 children, have been killed, and over 14,000 injured, by Israeli airstrikes since October 2023.

Since 24 September 2024, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has been conducting Rapid Needs Assessments (RNA) and Key Informative Interviews to identify and address the evolving needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). As of 17 October, the assessments involved 1,892 displaced families, compromising 8,877 individuals: 1,576 Lebanese, 296 Syrians, 11 Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon, two Palestinian Refugees from Syria, and seven individuals from other nationalities. 32% of the surveyed individuals are children under 15, 8% are elderly, and 4%...

The situation in Lebanon continues to deteriorate, with Israeli airstrikes intensifying across heavily populated areas, including South Lebanon, Beirut, Mount Lebanon (BML), Bekaa and for the first time since the beginning of the conflict, North Lebanon.
