Scope of Work
Provide specialized technical support and oversight for the design, review, and implementation of all civil works related to concrete structures and steel components across designated infrastructure projects. The Shelter and WASH technical enumerator is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day supervision of Shelter and WASH activities, through carrying out quality technical assessments and technical follow-up, supervising the construction works and submitting daily reports. The Enumerator will be responsible for ensuring all civil works and other related works are executed in accordance with relevant engineering standards, codes, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out rapid, precise and technical needs assessments for shelters, schools, etc. in line with NRC’s project criteria intervention.
- Produce accurate drawings, reports, measurements (BoQs) and/or photographs as evidence of a technical assessment.
- Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculation.
- Ensure minimum Shelter and WASH standards (based on SPHERE) are applied and maintained in shelters, schools, etc.
- Monitor, supervise and inspect the quality of the works so as to ensure conformity with the technical specification as specified in the Bill of quantities (BOQ) and scope of works, drawings and design requirements compliance with design requirements and safety regulations.
- Ensure that all materials used, and work performed address beneficiaries’ needs and ensure safety by doing safety inspections of the sites.
- Report all protection related concerns following internal and external referral pathways and report code of conduct breaches especially those that affect vulnerable populations.
- Ensure proper filing of Shelter/WaSH technical documents according to procedures.
- Report activities using distribution lists, field reports, attendance lists and Kobo online activity reporting
- Perform any other relevant or emergency related duties as required by the supervisor.
Competencies
- Professional competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related field
- Minimum of one year of relevant work experience in construction companies, NGO, or any related construction domain.
- Knowledge of the NGO operations and dynamics of the humanitarian sector.
- Previous experience as a contractor and site management
- Proficiency in MS Office (words and excel)
- Proficiency of CAD programmes and computer-based drawings
- Fluency in English and Arabic, both spoken and written
