About ABAAD
ABAAD– Resource Center for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD advocates for the development and implementation of policies and laws that enhance women’s effective participation, through a rights-based approach that would bring about tangible change to gender justice. With the purpose of ending gender-based violence, ABAAD adopts a holistic care approach to provide protection and support services to GBV survivors/right holders during times of peace, war and disasters since 2011.
About the project
Lebanon has been facing multiple crisis since 2020; from socioeconomic deteriorations, to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Beirut Blast. The collective impact has increased women and girls’ vulnerabilities and risks of gender-based violence (GBV).
To address this, ABAAD is implementing a 12-months project funded by Diakonie, that aims at improving access of women and girl survivors of and/or at-risk of GBV to holistic prevention and response services in Lebanon’s North (Tripoli), Bekaa (Baalbek), and Mount Lebanon regions. The project will include a certain number of awareness material to be distributed to the beneficiaries.
Overall goal of this assignment
The overall goal of this assignment is to provide 12 women with the needed theoretical and technical skills over a duration of 12 sessions on Soap Production to feel economically empowered to further advance and seek opportunities. The assignment consists of 2 cycles (12 sessions each cycle).
Duties and Responsibilities
- The trainer will be responsible for conducting 2 cycles of 12 training sessions each, over a period of 1.5 months on Soap Production to empower 12 women or girls economically;
- The trainer is to share with the project team the set session schedule that will describe the main objective of each session and include a brief on what will be taught in each session;
- The trainer is to share with the project team the relevant training tools, materials, and methodology to be used during the sessions to ensure these are culturally sensitive to the targeted population;
- The trainer is to provide progress reports inclusive of attendance sheets and to provide support in the application of the quality assurance procedures on a monthly basis in close coordination with the project team mainly the project coordinator – through:
- Assessing the satisfaction of targeted beneficiaries using the satisfaction survey
- Facilitating complaint mechanism procedures through informing the targeted population of the complaint cycle procedures
- Assessing impact of the provided activities through using MEAL tools, such as pre-post-tests, evaluation forms, etc.
Skills required
- Previous experience in providing socio-economic training for women on Soap Production
- Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities)
