ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality Combating GBV among Syrian Women Refugees Terms of Reference (TOR) Animation Specialist   Position: Animation specialist Requirement: Conduct a total of 60 (3 hour) PSS and animation activities in 12 areas as part of the mobile unit activities in 12 regions in Lebanon. Project: Combating GBV among Syrian Women Refugees Time-Frame for this assignment: From 01 august 2016 to 31 June 2017 Duration: 10 months Location: Akkar, North, Mount Lebanon, Beirut, Bekaa, South Type of consultancy: PSS and animation activities   About the project It has been observed through field assessments that Syrian women and girls are becoming more and more reluctant to leave their homes to access support and services. Hence, ABAAD in partnership with Diakonia with the support of RadioHjalpen and Church of Sweden have designed this project intervention with emphasis on the provision of GBV related services; including Psycho Social Support (PSS), educational activities, health and legal services, among others, within communities and thus reach out to the women and girls most in need within the areas they are located.   This project was designed to continue to respond to the: lack of awareness on the impact of GBV on the community, especially women and girls, lack of awareness among affected communities on the necessity of intervention and the advantages of support for GBV survivors, limited psychosocial services for GBV survivors, lack of institutionalized governmental response to address GBV, lack of community engagement amongst Syrian refugees in development processes and lack of mobilization of men and boys to address GBV. The main adopted approach, by ABAAD and Diakonia is to respond to the aforementioned GBV needs through better accessibility to specialized services with the provision of mobile services to the communities. The rationale behind doing so includes the social norms that tend to limit the mobility of women and their presence in public spheres, and the restricted mobility of refugees due to visa restrictions.   Overall goal of this assignment The overall goal of this assignment is to provide PSS services that help creating safe spaces for girls, & boys, providing different age-specific life skills, identifying priorities related to GBV and PSS, and disseminating protection msgs on GBV.   Duties and Responsibilities -          The PSS Animator will be responsible for conducting 60PSS and animation activities in 12 villages in Lebanon, targeting host and refugee boys and girls between 7 and 14 years old; -          The PSS Animator is to share with the project team the relevant tools, scripts, materials to be used during sessions to ensure these are culturally sensitive to the targeted population; -          Activities can be as follow: drawing, animation, theatre, dance, laughter Yoga, singing… -          The PSS Animator is responsible for the procurement of tools and materials and logistical preparation and set up -          The PSS Animator is to provide progress reports after finalizing activities in each targeted area, and to provide support in the application of the quality assurance procedures –in close coordination with the mobile unit team namely the project coordinator – through: Assessing the satisfaction of targeted women and girls beneficiaries using the satisfaction survey Facilitating complaint mechanism procedures through informing the targeted population of the complaint cycle procedures Assessing impact of the provided activities through using MEAL tools, such as pre-post tests, evaluation forms, etc…   Skills required -          Previous experience in conducting PSS Animation for boys and girls among this age group, while addressing sensitive issues through interactive actions. -          Previous experience in targeting vulnerable population in rural (high risk) villages. -          Willingness to work with adolescent girls and boys. -          Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities).   Interested consultants must submit, by July 8, 2016, a proposal demonstrating their suitability to undertake this assignment.
