ABAAD PURPOSE:

Position: Grants Officer
Summary:
The Grants Officer supports in the management of grant cycle’s financial, programmatic, reporting, compliance, and administrative matters that relate to rewards grants, awards, and funds.
Grant Office (hereinafter abbreviated as GO) is responsible for supporting in matters relating to awarded grants’ management, including supporting Programme Coordinators (PCs) managing and ensuring compliance with donors’ financial, budgetary, programmatic, and reporting requirements.
In addition, GO will support and work closely with relevant parties during at all phases of pre-award, post-award, and project closure (including development of learning documentation).
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development/Proposal Writing:Supports in the development of proposals/grants to be submitted by:
- Drafting/developing context analysis/desk review.
- Liaising with various departments within ABAAD (i.e., finance, human resources, program implementation, field implementation, and technical teams) for development of pre-award documents.
- Supports in developing grants, grant modifications for donor amendments, and negotiated/planned memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with consultants/partners.
- Support in finalizing and preparation of all final documentation requirements for pre-award submission and project closure.
- Grant Management Support:
- Support Program and Field Implementation Unit teams on donor/grant programmatic and financial reporting and requirements, ensuring that quality reports are submitted as per contractual commitments.
- Support in the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of internal reporting and providing technical guidance/support on reporting procedures to ensure overall improvement.
- Provide recommendations and suggestions on ways forward to mitigate issues of non-compliance.
- Support in administering the full cycle of grants management activities beginning from whence grant awarded to monitoring/compliance visits and close-out procedures.
- Provide day-to-day grant related administrative support to PCs to ensure compliance with donor regulations and requirements.
- Respond to issues that arise during grant management cycles, which include but not limited to: (a) budget/financial forecast, (b) liquidation burn-rate, (c) reporting discrepancies, and (d) compliance [i.e., supporting documentation].
- Represent ABAAD and/or attend on behalf of ABAAD, partners’ engagement meetings, conferences, and/or workshops.
- Any other duties assigned within scope of work.
Job Requirements:
- BA/BS in social sciences or business administration.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in grants support and/or programme management.
- Experience working with UN, US, and EU grants preferred.
- Experience in developing/drafting proposals a must.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English, French is a plus
