Overview: ABAAD is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious civil society organization that seeks to achieve gender equality as a fundamental condition for sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD promotes women's rights and participation through policy development, legal reform, gender mainstreaming, engaging men and boys, eliminating discrimination, and empowering women to fully and effectively participate in their communities. ABAAD also works to support and collaborate with civil society organizations involved in gender equality programming and advocacy initiatives.
ABAAD maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is a collective responsibility. All staff are required to adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct, which upholds the principles of PSEA at all times, both during and outside of working hours. Familiarization with, and strict adherence to, the Code of Conduct is mandatory, alongside the completion of related training. All staff must ensure they understand, internalize, and act in full accordance with this commitment.
Given that ABAAD is implementing programs across different regions in Lebanon, we are currently recruiting specialized professionals to deliver a range of social work, prevention, response, and community-based activities within these projects.

 

Position TITLE: Social Worker


Location: Akkar – North
Duration: 6 Months
Reporting to: Implementation officer
Technical Follow up:   Prevention and Response officers

Position Description:
Deliver holistic social work services addressing both individual and community needs. Provide case management and psychosocial support to GBV survivors and at-risk individuals. Conduct outreach, facilitate prevention and awareness activities, and engage in community mobilization. Advocate for access to services and uphold human rights through a survivor-centered and inclusive approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide case management and psychosocial support to survivors and vulnerable individuals, ensuring confidentiality and survivor-centered care.
  • Conduct needs assessments, develop and implement action plans, provide referrals, and monitor case progress until closure.
  • Conduct initial need assessment and map the available services and update the service mapping regularly.
  • Conduct outreach and community mobilization to promote protection and raise awareness of available services and strengthen community resilience.
  • Organize and facilitate psychosocial support activities, awareness sessions, and life skills workshops and others intervention in center-based and community settings.
  • Ensure safe identification and referral of GBV beneficiaries to available protection services internally and externally
  • Lead on community groups intervention within the scoop of the center
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure integrated, timely, and quality service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cases, activities, and reports in line with ethical standards and ABAAD policies.
  • Actively participate in capacity building workshops and technical trainings.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, monitoring, and evaluation activities to support program quality and learning.
     

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • BA, Master or equivalent Degree in Social Work, Psychology or any related field;
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in a similar position; preferably in the humanitarian or protection sector.
  • Knowledge of GBV prevention and response & Child Protection core concepts and guidelines;
  • Experience of working in/with non-government organizations;
  • Experience in implementing international and national principles and standards related to working with women/ girls exposed to violence, their families, people with Special Needs/Disability, Juveniles, Refugees, Migrants and Marginalized Groups. 
  • Belief & adherence to ABAAD’s mission and vision;
  • Respect for ABAAD Code of Conduct and its PSEA Policy;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with GBV data collection system and safe and ethical guidelines.
  • Commitment to human rights, child protection and gender equality;
  • Flexible pro-active attitude;
  • Ability to work well as an individual and within a team;
  • Ability to manage an unpredictable workload in a challenging environment;
  • Ability to work across socio-cultural and religious contexts;
  • Languages: Fluency in spoken and written Arabic, clear and concise reporting in English is strongly preferred. French is a plus;
  • Must be computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
