About ACTED ACTED is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in France with global operations in Central and South Asia, Europe, Middle-East and Africa. ACTED has been active in Lebanon since 2006 operating mainly in the North and Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates of Lebanon. DESCRIPTION ACTED is seeking to hire consultants for one or more of the following trainings: Team management and leadership, communication and negotiation skills training The training consultant is responsible for delivering a training to our staff on Management, Leadership, Communication and Negotiation skills. The training will be 3 days (18 hours) in length and will take place in a predetermined location (whether it be our offices or a venue). By the end of the training participants will have: - A foundational knowledge and understanding of what happens in a humanitarian response and what informs approaches within it - Understanding of, and familiarity with, tools and techniques to improve decision-making and problem-solving skills in humanitarian situations - Further confidence and awareness in ability to speak out and influence situations - Gained greater self-awareness on leadership and team skills - Enhanced skills in giving and receiving feedback - Identify key themes of humanitarian leadership and practice associated skills of decision making and influencing - Carry out contextual analysis to improve skills of critical judgement - Analyse risks to improve design, management and impact of humanitarian programmes. _____________________________________ Report and proposal writing, grant management and donor relationship training The training consultant is responsible for delivering a training to our staff on Report and Proposal writing, Grant Management and Donor relationship. The training will be 3 days (18 hours) in length and will take place in a predetermined location (whether it be our offices or a venue). By the end of the training participants will have: - Sufficient knowledge to map the funding landscape in Lebanon - A foundational knowledge and understanding of donor trends and regional preferences - Enhanced skills in finding and evaluating funding opportunities - Further knowledge regarding new forms of funding and how to develop them - An understanding of the different stages of donor procurement and how to manage each stage - The tools to write a convincing proposal, concept note and create budgets - Identified the proposals do and don’t - Learned how to develop Logical Frameworks for effective project planning and presentation - Effective writing techniques - Enhanced skills in developing consortia, engaging and networking with new and traditional donors _____________________________________ Sphere project and Core humanitarian standards training The training consultant is responsible for delivering a training to our staff on Sphere Project and Core Humanitarian standards trainings. The training will be 2 days (12 hours) in length and will take place in a predetermined location (whether it be our offices or a venue). By the end of the training participants will have: - The capacity to describe the purpose and structure and main elements of the Sphere Project and the Core Humanitarian Standards. - Have gained an understanding of how the Sphere approach and tools can be used by humanitarian practitioners throughout all phases of a project. - Have a clear understanding of, and ability to communicate, and planning the various ways in which the Sphere standards can be usedto increase the quality and accountability of humanitarian assistance in Emergency situations. - Have discussed the Sphere Project and the Core Humanitarian Standards as a tool in Lebanese humanitarian crisis and emergency response. _____________________________________ Candidates can apply to one or more of the trainings mentioned above. The trainer will have to: - Prepare and develop the training materials (including toolkit to be distributed to the trainees during/after completion of the training) - Create and maintain a positive and professional learning environment - Be able to deliver and motivate trainees through effective training methodologies both in group and individual dynamic activities ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ACTED will consider individual consultants or training centers with the following requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in relevant discipline of training specialisation, Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum 5 years of working experience with an NGO, 7 years of working experience in delivering trainings, developing sessions and manual, managing learning cycle and testing sessions for efficacy and capacity building of Organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Arabic Language is an asset. Availability in October and November 2017 (flexibility in working hours and dates is required) High ability to analyse and address the local needs and challenges INGOs face in Lebanon Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility After ensuring applicants meet the eligibility requirements, a technical review committee will score each proposal per criteria. ACTED may follow up with additional questions and at any stage reserves the right to pose clarifying questions and conduct discussions with some, all, or none of the applicants. ACTED reserves the right to fund any or none of the applications submitted.
