Hygiene Promotion Supervisor

Functions 1.      Supervision   The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the performance of his/her team, in terms of outputs, quality, efficiency and compliance with ACTED rules and policies:   1.1  Organisation and Planning   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for organising activities and allocating team work in his/her area, in accordance with agreed hygiene promotion campaigns and programme activities. -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for tracking resources and logistical requirements (e.g. transport, soap, class supplies) and reporting to WASH / Shelter Programme Manager when resources are low. -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for having a good knowledge of his/her geographical area or target group, in collaboration with his/her team. -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor will participate in campaign development and the implementation of the PHAST methodology to hygiene promotion.   1.2  Performance and quality monitoring   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for performance and quality monitoring of his/her team, including tracking: Outputs (such as number of household sessions, group sessions, vouchers distributed, etc) Communication skills (the relationship between hygiene promoters and the community) Technical skills (knowledge of hygiene and behaviour change methodology) Compliance with ACTED rules and policies   1.3  Ongoing mentoring and on-site training of staff to ensure continuous improvement   -          Skills development: the Hygiene Promotion Supervisor contributes to the skills development of his/her staff through provision of field-level advice. -          Hygiene Promotion Campaigns: the Hygiene Promotion Supervisor contributes to the delivery of accurate and agreed-upon hygiene promotion to the community – based on the hygiene promotion campaigns that are developed.   1.4  HR and time management:   -          Monitoring of the attendance of team members (arrival time, departure time, leave), and their behaviour as a team player/ ACTED employee. -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor should report immediately to the WASH / Shelter Programme Manager concerning any difficulty met in the implementation of his/her activities, in dealing with beneficiaries, authorities or with other stakeholders, or with concern to security.   1.5  Information:   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for sharing information both to the team and from the team to management.   2.      Reporting   2.1  Performance reporting:   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for reporting to the WASH / Shelter Programme Manager activities through the daily reporting formats provided.   2.2  Ad-hoc reporting:   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for communicating issues, problems, challenges, or ideas to the WASH / Shelter Programme Manager   2.3  HR reporting:   -          Verifying daily attendance sheets, organisation of Cash-For-Work contracts and agreements. -          Reporting of any incidences or HR matters   3.      Communication and Coordination   3.1  Communication with community hygiene promotion team:   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor will maintain open dialogue with all team members, and will treat all staff in a respectful way. -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor will facilitate communication between the community hygiene promotion team and management on issues, ideas, and results of our work.   3.2  Cross-Programme communication:   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor will work in close coordination and collaboration with the WASH/Shelter Technical Field Officers, Liaison Officer, Water Quality Monitor, and the other ACTED staff working in the designated geographical area.   3.3  Community:   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor will maintain strong relationship with the community, and will be the focal point for hygiene related issues for the community.   4.      Security   -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for the safety of his/her team and is responsible for knowing the location of all team members at any point in time, and to maintain regular communication with the team when in the field. -          The Hygiene Promotion Supervisor is responsible for immediately reporting incidences to the Security Focal Point and the WASH / Shelter Programme Manager -          The Team Leader is responsible for implementing and communicating security or evacuation plans.
