Reach Information Officer Beirut (X18)

I. Background ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development) is an international NGO founded in 1993 and headquartered in Paris. ACTED provides relief assistance to victims of conflict and vulnerable populations. Its activities range from emergency relief to development projects. In 2005, ACTED implemented more than 300 projects in 35 countries spread over Africa, Central Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.    II. Responsibilities 1. Data Collection The Information Officer will carry out field data collection as required by the Assessment Officer for the relevant REACH assessment. The Information Officer’s responsibilities will include: -       Collecting data and information in the field through interviews of key informants and community members, focus group discussions, field visits and surveys, in line with the REACH Assessment Methodology; -       Ensuring transparent, accurate and timely collection of quantitative and qualitative data and information; -       Ensuring a regular, effective and comprehensive transmission of information within the all Database team; -       Cross-checking information accuracy with the database entry; -       Supporting geo-referencing of all surveys conducted in the field as required by the REACH Assessment Methodology.   2. Reporting The Information Officer is also required to report information from the field accurately to the Field Coordinators and Assessment Officer. In regards to reporting, the Information Officer will be responsible for: -       Providing regular reports to the Field Coordinators at frequent intervals on the progress of the implementation of the assessment activities and on relevant observations during the mission; -       Transcribing accurately responses from primary data collection (interviews and focus group discussions) and provide English transcriptions to Field Coordinators when returning from the field;  -       Working closely with the Database to provide accurate data and where necessary assist in data entry.   3. Accountability to Communities and Beneficiaries The Information Officer is responsible for ensuring that all relations with the communities we work are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner. Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED programme objectives, activities, and methodologies. This is the responsibility of every REACH staff member.
