About ACTED:
ACTED in an international NGO that has been registered in Lebanon since 2006. It has an established country office in Beirut as well as a field office in Akkar. More recently, it has been carrying out activities in the South and in Tripoli.
ACTED works closely with local authorities and civil society stakeholders at the community level to implement priority humanitarian interventions such as emergency multi-purpose cash assistance, WASH projects (including disease monitoring and infrastructural and behavioral response), and Shelter interventions incorporating multiple modalities. ACTED is also implementing long-term development projects to rehabilitate infrastructure, improve agricultural production, increase livelihood opportunities and support state and non-state actors to improve service delivery and social stability through collective development planning.
Project: “Operationalizing Human Security in Tripoli for Women and Girls”
ACTED is implementing a project in Tripoli designed to build the resilience of conflict-affected, displaced and hosting vulnerable women and girls in Tripoli, Lebanon. The targeted beneficiaries will receive a package of trainings and awareness sessions that will empower them, and provide them with basic skills to be in a better position to seek, at the end of the project, improved livelihood opportunities.
Assignment
To this effect, ACTED is seeking a female self-defense instructor to provide 4 hours of introductory sessions to self-defense to six groups of 25 women and girls. The trainer will provide a total of 24 hours of training over the course of two months and a half, between November 15th 2019 and January 30th 2020. The trainer is in charge of bringing any material needed for the sessions. The training will take place in four centers located in Beb el Tebbaneh, Al Kobbeh and Mina road
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop an outline for 2 two-hour sessions with objectives and detailed activities
- Conduct 2 two-hours sessions of practical training for the six groups of 25 girls and women (4 hours per group)
- Develop a pre and post-test for the training module
- Provide a weekly report to the PM on the progress of the training using ACTED template
- Register daily attendance of trainees of the courses taught using ACTED template
Required competencies:
The instructor is expected to have the following skills:
- Have completed a certified course in self-defense, with a focus on self-defense against sexual assault.
- Be familiar with Gender-based violence prevention.
- Be sensitive towards practices and traditions of beneficiaries.
- Previous experience conducting trainings and developing evaluation material preferred.
- Fluency in Arabic is required.
