The Communication Coordinator will be the focal point for rolling out the communication strategy that is closely linked to the advocacy strategy of the Lebanon Protection Consortium (LPC), and will work under the line management of the Advocacy Manager of the LPC. The Communication Coordinator will be responsible for the design and development of communication products in line with the advocacy and communication strategy. In doing so, the Communication Coordinator will work with the LPC secretariat, with the MEAL Manager, the Multisector Response Manager and the Technical Reference Groups to obtain and analyse relevant information that can feed communication outputs.
POSTION GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Facilitate dissemination of key evidence and knowledge to support the advocacy objectives
Foster understanding and acceptance of the project among rights-holders, authorities, donor and diplomatic community and all LPC staff (in coordination with the Consortium Manager), for smooth rollout of the project.
Ensure humanitarian partners have a clear understanding of the LPC’s work and collaborate when response is needed.
POSITON SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND TASKS
Objective 1: Evidence based advocacy
Tasks:
Responsible for the design and the implementation of the communication strategy
Support the Advocacy Manager in her collaboration with the Technical Reference Groups to transform available data into communication products
Supporting the work of the technical reference groups by providing technical input and guidance when needed in support of communication deliverables
Objective 2: External communication
Tasks:
Ensure alignment with donor requirements regarding visibility
Produce internal (e.g. newsletter) and external communications materials and project documents in English and Arabic (e.g. updates to donors, impact assessments, trend analysis, factsheets, features).
Finalize visual identity, visibility guidelines and rules for representation (to be approved by advocacy TRG and LPC Board and disseminated internally and to donor).
Training on agreed-upon visual identity and visibility guidelines and presentation to LPC members to make sure they are familiar with the communication strategy and are accountable to it.
Support organization and facilitation of workshops to present findings and results to key stakeholders (e.g. rights holders, authorities, local NGOs)
Objective 3: Security
Tasks
Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan
Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or non-compliance with the security plan
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Training:
University degree preferred in Communications and/or Journalism, with professional experience within the humanitarian sector.
Technical specific knowledge:
Ability to produce communication outputs such as infographics, case studies, feature articles, factsheets, human interest stories, including the full production process such as graphic design and editing.
Excellent knowledge of and ability to work with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign; Excellent ability to use Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point); basic knowledge of photo- and video editing software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe AfterEffects, FinalCut Pro, or similar).
Previous experience (years):
Minimum 5 years of experience working on projects at humanitarian aid organizations and/or international donors or private sector.
Humanitarian sector knowledge:
Acquainted with the Middle East context, knowledge of the Lebanese context is an advantage.
Languages:
English: Compulsory working language. Excellent writing skills are required for this position.
Arabic: Compulsory. Good translation skills
French: An asset.
