Communication Officer

POSITION SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND TASKS:

Objective 1: Support the finalisation and roll out of the mission’s communication strategy and action plan

Tasks

Support the advocacy coordinator and on an ad hoc basis the regional communication advisor on the finalisation, dissemination and roll out of the communication strategy; travel to the bases as required

Support the advocacy coordinator and on an ad hoc basis the regional communication advisor on the finalisation, dissemination and roll out of the communication plan of action; be actively engaged in ensuring activities are carried on.

Support finalisation of standard templates of documents for communication

Participate to / lead the process when designing communication materials (brochures, leaflets, notebooks, calendars…) and support the mission’s operations with innovative ideas for new products (cartoons/videos etc..)

Upon request, assist the country director, the advocacy coordinator and other members of the coordination team in general and official representation

Gather information on the mission’s achievements, beneficiaries’ testimonies, and other communication materials for external audiences

Support Amman-based Regional Office and HQ in digital communications

 Provide general support and guidance to programme teams to ensure full compliance with donor visibility requirements

Liaise with the different donor’s communication units and take part in communication working groups with partners/NGO in Lebanon.

 

Objective 2: support internal communication

Assist in writing and translating articles or reports, or in translating during meetings

Support in writing quarterly activity reports for the authorities as well as the yearly reports

Ensure the compilation and circulation of monthly sitreps, coordination meeting minutes, and other internal documents (upon request)

Brief all new staff on Action Against Hunger’s principles and functioning.

Assist the coordination team in the organization of team workshops and other events upon request

Support in the update of the stakeholder analysis

Assist in internally disseminating information/minutes of important meetings

Support in Knowledge Management tasks (filing in No Hunger Forum, records keeping of important meetings and conclusions … )
 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

Training/ Education:

Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Action or any related field (communications, journalism, political science, law, etc.)

Technical specific knowledge:

Excellent writing skills, self-supporting in computers, excellent in interpersonal, communication and networking skills.

Communication skills: press relases, photo edition, video edition. Internet and social media networks.

Previous experience:

Previous experience in a similar position and/or in the humanitarian field of at least 3 years.

Humanitarian sector knowledge:

Yes

Action Against Hunger knowledge:

Not mandatory

Languages:

English: Compulsory working language. Excellent writing skills are required for this position.

Arabic: Compulsory. Good translation skills

French: An asset. 

IT and specific systems:

Good skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, photo/video edition programmes

Mobility (national/ international):

National – The position is based in Beirut with  visits to the bases to support for the external communication as well as to conduct capacity-building sessions.

 

REMUNERATION PACKAGE:

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:

Based in: Beirut

Area: OPE/Advocacy

Formal work contract: 2 months

Salary: from 1873 USD to 2226 USD  gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience (according to standard list of Action Against Hunger - Spain). Action Against Hunger - Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.

LBP 8,000 daily transportation allowance on working days

Social security registration and NSSF family allowance if eligible
