Finance – Pool of Candidates (Different Positions)

As a mean to respond to the increasing human needs in Lebanon under multiple crises, Action against hunger is launching the roster pools project, in this initiative we will validate all interested and qualified individuals in Finance, the applicants will become a part of our active pool and shall be contacted and prioritized when we have any open position or urgent gap to fill.

Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.

In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities.

WE WORK IN LEBANON AGAINST COVID-19

  • Focusing on Syrian refugee population and Lebanese host communities, mobilization committees, isolation centres, municipalities and service providers.
  • Conducting training for health personnel.
  • Distributing disinfection and dignity kits.
  • Installing latrines for people with specific needs in Aarsal.
  • Carrying out channel cleaning to ensure proper drainage. Distributing water through tanker trucks.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The Finance department is responsible for financial transparency and the optimized management of the financial resources of the missions, always fulfilling with Action Against Hunger internal procedures. provide accurate and high-quality forecasting, in collaboration with programme managers, for both the base and consolidation to the capital finances; to control and mitigate the financial risks of the Organization, including a timely follow-up on Audits and audit requirements and coordinate and strengthen financial compliance with all the departments following Action Against Hunger guidelines and policies; Enforce and improve the quality of archiving processes within the Finance / Admin Department.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

These objectives are comprehensive to different positions levels; if you qualify for minimum 3 of the below mentioned objectives, then you are eligible to apply.

Objective 1: To ensure an appropriate treasury management at field and/or coordination level.

Objective 2: To ensure a proper project budget management cycle (mission and/or base level)

Objective 3: To ensure compliance with Action Against Hunger and donor policies and procedures for financial transactions and validate payments

Objective 4: To assure a proper registration of all the financial transactions of the organisation in a timely manner.

Objective 5 To support in the appropriate digital and physical archiving of all supporting documents

Objective 6: Follow up with the local partners reporting and compliance

Objective 7: Team Management

Objective 8: Assist in the administrative aspects

PROFILE

Training/ Education: Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Financial Management, or any other related field

Technical specific knowledge: Knowledge of donor guidelines Experience in budget preparation, financial reports, financial project follow-up and Audit reports. Knowledge of accountancy software is desirable. Demonstrable knowledge in financial error tracking and control. Demonstrable knowledge of donor funded programming.

Previous experience: At least 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in a finance/admin function. A demonstrably high degree of competence in working with an international organization is desirable. Experience in dealing with donors is a plus. Demonstrable experience of handling a large portfolio of programmes. Provable previous experience of participating in audits and financial investigations

Humanitarian sector knowledge: Previous experience in the humanitarian field (at least 5 years is a plus). Private Sector experience will be considered.

Respect Action Against Hunger Security Regulations

Languages: Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic.

IT and specific systems: Windows domain, Compulsory expertise in Excel, accounting programs, SAGA and/or Agresso

Mobility (national/ international): National

PROFILE CONCLUSIONS:

  • Professional Oral and Written communication skills – and the ability to produce reports and different documents in a good quality
  • Solid teamwork and good conflict resolution skills and Motivation to work for a humanitarian cause.
  • High analytical capacity and ability to detect and correct errors in a timely manner in addition to producing high quality financial and audit reports
  • Flexible person with good understanding of procedures and policies and for Action Against Hunger humanitarian principals: Independence, Neutrality, Non-discrimination, Free and direct access to victims, Professionalism, and Transparency
