Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women, and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.
In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social, and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities.
The Advocacy, Communications and Engagement (ACE) Manager will be responsible for researching and analyzing member-identified priority issues and translating them into collective policy positions and advocacy products for engagement with external stakeholders, including the United Nations, donor embassies, and the Government of Lebanon. The postholder leads the Lebanon Humanitarian INGO Forum’s advocacy and communications work, ensuring that member perspectives are accurately reflected in evidence-based, consensus-driven outputs and strategic engagement.
Objective 1: To prepare advocacy products on behalf of the LHIF
- Engage with LHIF members to develop collective positions in the form of talking points, press statements, public and private papers, and briefings
- Coordinate the collection, analysis, and presentation of quantitative data and qualitative feedback from LHIF members to ensure common positions are accurate, evidence-based, effective, and represent member consensus
Objective 2: To engage stakeholders in collective advocacy
- Lead the LHIF Advocacy Working Group (AWG), convening regular meetings and keeping member advocacy focal points informed of key developments
- Work closely with LHIF Regional Groups/Focal points and thematic Working Groups (HR, Finance, Partnerships and Localization, etc.) as well as external Working Groups where appropriate (Access Working Group) to track common operational, policy, and response issues
- Liaise with external advocacy partners, including LHDF, ICVA, InterAction, and other NGO fora regionally to ensure cohesion and alignment and that priorities are reflected at regional and international levels
Objective 3: To lead LHIF external communication
- Lead LHIF communications activities, including maintaining the website and internal information platforms, coordinating member-generated content and supporting the dissemination of key messages and products
- Develop a network of media contacts to strengthen and amplify LHIF advocacy messages
Objective 4: To lead LHIF member engagement
- Manage the LHIF member network, including through internal communications, onboarding and off-boarding, information management and financial administration.
