Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation. 

In Lebanon, the Syrian crisis continues to generate political, social and economic pressure due to the war in Lebanon and keeps more than 1.5 million refugees in a situation of increasing vulnerability. In this environment of political, economic and social uncertainty, our teams have maintained their high levels of humanitarian response and aid to Lebanon. Likewise, our interventions have been maintained in the Bekaa and northern areas, as well as in the south of the country, with a special focus on working in partnership or in consortium with other organizations and on institutional strengthening of the relationship with both donors. institutional, such as with local authorities and entities.  

 

Background:

Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization committed to eradicating hunger and malnutrition through multi-sectoral interventions in nutrition, health, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), food security, and livelihoods. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) department plays a crucial role in ensuring program quality, effectiveness, and accountability to affected populations. To enhance community engagement and gather essential data, the organization seeks to hire a Daily Worker to support MEAL activities. This position will contribute to strengthening feedback mechanisms, addressing right holders’ queries, and ensuring high-quality data collection through field and phone-based surveys.

 

Purpose of the Assignment:

  • The Daily Worker will support the MEAL department in engaging with right holders by addressing their queries and conducting field and phone-based surveys. This position ensures proper data collection and feedback management, contributing to program improvement and accountability.
  • Reporting to: MEAL Officer/Manager

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to right holders' inquiries through designated communication channels (phone, in-person, etc.).
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative surveys in the field and via phone.
  • Accurately record and report collected data using pre-designed tools.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of feedback, complaints, and survey responses.
  • Escalate complex queries and complaints to relevant MEAL staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive data.
  • Support the MEAL team in organizing and facilitating community feedback sessions.
  • Assist in data entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis as needed.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Statistics, or related field.
  • Experience in conducting surveys, data collection, or community engagement.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Basic knowledge of data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian principles and accountability to affected populations (AAP) is desirable.

 

Deliverables:

  • Daily reports of surveys conducted, and queries addressed.
  • Clean and organized data sets ready for analysis.
  • Documentation of escalated cases and responses.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Field visits to project locations may be required.
  • Phone-based data collection will be done from the office.
  • Daily wage:

Full day: $35 from 9:00 A.M. till 3:00 P.M.

Half day: $18 from 9:00 A.M. till 12:00 P.M. or from 12:00 till 3:00 P.M.

  • Working days: 

Maximum 9 days/month according to the Lebanese labor law (to be confirmed based on the operational needs)
