ECE Teacher

Position Aim:

The main purpose of the position is to provide English, Math, Science and Arabic classes for non-Lebanese and Lebanese children ages 5 years in a non -formal setting to prepare them for public school. Teaching is given in French and Arabic.

Functions:

• Manage and educate groups of children aged 5 years old according to provided teaching material, using exciting methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
• Organize educational, recreational and social activities for students
• Ensure, promote and facilitate that the principles of child protection and child participation are integrated into all project activities and communication with students
• Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
• Always ensure strict adherence to ADRA Lebanon Child Protection Policies, including respect for confidentiality and child centred approach, acting in the best interests of the child
• Show self-motivation, enthusiasm and creativity.
• Build relationships with parents and caregivers
• Maintain records and prepare reports and recommendations
• Work in close coordination with the administration, Education Coordinator, Inclusion Officer and Psychosocial Worker and all other project related staff
• Provide monthly reports on the progress and effectiveness of actions made to Project Manager

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or advanced degree in any field related to social development related field, (kindergarten studies or specialized education)
• At least 1 year of work experience teaching at elementary level (Teaching French, Arabic, and English is prefferred)
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Good written and oral English skills
• Skilled at using basic computer programs
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities

Preferred:

• INGO or NGO experience
• Experience working with refugee population
• Ability to write clear and concise reports in English
