Health & Nutrition Needs Assessment Consultant - MEND II Project

Objectives

The consultancy will focus on four main objectives:

  • Data Analysis
    • Review available survey and project data from MEND, LIFE, and beneficiaries in Bourj Hamoud.
    • Identify correlations between chronic illness prevalence, nutritional intake, and lifestyle patterns.
  • Partnership Engagement
    • Collaborate with Loubnaniyoun and Armenian Relief Cross to access and integrate beneficiary data.
    • Involve partner organizations as key stakeholders in the needs assessment process.
  • Recommendations Development
    • Generate programmatic recommendations for:
      • Health interventions (preventive care, health education, and medical support).
      • Nutrition-sensitive food security programming.
      • Training sessions for beneficiaries on nutrition and lifestyle adjustments.

Reporting

  • Produce an evidence-based final report consolidating findings, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Ensure the report is tailored for sharing with coordination sectors in health, nutrition, and food security.

Responsibilities of the Consultant

The consultant will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and synthesizing all relevant project and partner data.
  • Conducting a secondary review of information on health–nutrition links within Lebanon’s crisis context.
  • Performing both quantitative and qualitative data analysis to identify patterns, correlations, and gaps.
  • Preparing three deliverables (see below).
  • Ensuring adherence to ADRA Lebanon’s humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, non-discrimination, and high ethical standards.
  • Respecting timelines, meetings, deadlines, and project requirements.
  • Maintaining clear communication with the Program Coordinator and promptly reporting challenges.
  • Considering safety and security in the field and reporting all incidents to the security focal point.
  • Demonstrating teamwork, professionalism, and a solution-oriented approach.

Deliverables & Timeline

  • Inception Note
  • Outline methodology, data sources, and analysis plan.
  • To be delivered within 1 week of contract signing (September 2025).

Draft Report

  • Preliminary findings and recommendations.
  • To be submitted by October 10, 2025.

Final Report (due October 20, 2025)

  • Detailed correlation analysis between health and nutrition.
  • Comprehensive recommendations for ADRA and partners across health, nutrition, and food security sectors.
  • Annexes including datasets, tools, and references.

Qualifications Required

  • Advanced degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Strong, proven experience in:
  • Conducting needs assessments.
  • Health and nutrition correlation studies.
  • Humanitarian or development work.
  • Excellent skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of Lebanon’s health and nutrition context.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with NGOs and local health actors.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and ethical standards.

Contract Details

  • Start Date: Upon signing of the contract (September 2025).
  • End Date: October 20, 2025.
  • Consultancy fees and related costs will be covered under the Sustainable Solutions in Healthcare activity line of MEND-2.
  • Any assistants required for data cleaning or analysis will be hired and managed directly by the consultant.
