Monitoring, Evaluation and Communication Officer

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB PURPOSE

Adyan Foundation runs projects in education, media, community engagement and policymaking that promote positive coexistence and foster diversity, solidarity and human dignity.

This requires ongoing context analysis, strategic design of projects and their logical frameworks and related monitoring and evaluation plans, and evidence-based reporting and communication about the results and impact of this work.

As a member of the Development & International Relations (DIR) Unit, the Monitoring, Evaluation and Communications Officer will support the Director of the Unit with designing projects and proposals; monitoring and evaluation of existing projects; collecting data (through desk reviews, field observation and surveys) and organizing it via an online system; and contributing to the internal and external communication of the Foundation.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research and analysis into different aspects of country contexts, key thematic fields and potential partners, and summarize information
  • Collect and organize data, including in an online data management system; support efforts for the development and strengthening of this system
  • Support the design of project applications, including development of a project logframe
  • Support project monitoring and evaluation activities, including organizing and conducting field visits to gather information for outcomes harvesting and impact assessment
  • Identify and develop stories for reporting and communication
  • Develop internal communication tools (including a weekly bulletin)
  • Prepare project briefs and updates for use by project management and the Adyan Media Department
  • Contribute to reporting and to the development of Adyan annual and other reports
  • Support the preparation and facilitation of internal and external monitoring and evaluation and review meetings
  • Participate in relevant internal and external events and meetings, and provide meeting summaries as relevant
  • Undertake other activities as needed to further assist the work of the DIR Unit and Media Department

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

University degree (MA is a plus), preferably in communications, social sciences, or a related field

Experience

  • Experience in writing reports and storytelling reporting, conducting research (field- and desk-based), and summarizing information
  • Experience in attending community discussions / workshops / focal groups; and preferably experience in facilitation of such events
  • At least three years of experience in field related to project management, monitoring and evaluation, and communication, preferably with NGOs

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly regarding data collection and input, and in written communication
  • Ability to organize and accurately complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Email
  • Multimedia skills are a plus

Language requirements

Professional level written and spoken Arabic and English language. Proficiency in French would be an asset.
