Good Pitch بالعربي comes in the aim of finding new ways to support, make and disseminate documentary films; to source new funding and build a deeper bond with a wider audience. The programme aims at creating real social impact by forging alliances and partnerships between filmmakers, the civil society and social and environmental activists such as non-profits, charities, philanthropists, technology experts, policymakers and even brands and media outlets.
For the first edition of the Good Pitch بالعربي, the Beirut DC team will be working with and for 4 selected feature documentary films that have the potential to ignite and/or unite with local and international social justice campaigns.
Following a 6-month programme of engagement & mentorship, Good Pitch بالعربي will climax at the live event on spring 2020 in Beirut. Selected filmmakers will pitch their plans to leading change-makers from conventional and unconventional institutions ranging from film institutes to policymakers to forge coalitions and campaigns that are equally beneficial to the films, their newly found partners and our society.
Beirut DC is seeking a skilled, experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Beirut-based team as the Outreach Director for Good Pitch بالعربي.
The Outreach Director joining the team should be passionate about the power of coalitions between great nonfiction storytelling and change-makers to make a positive difference in the Arab world. This person will be working closely with the filmmakers and representing them in the world to engage and secure the participation of key regional and international organizations, to attend the live event and thus help ignite new strategic partnerships.
Tasks will include:
To search for changemakers, NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, brands and media and create a complete database of contacts to be used for the outreach process.
To work with the selected film teams to help define and refine their impact strategies.
To work with the film teams to write concise and effective outreach communications
To research and map potential partners for each of the film teams
To engage those prospects via email, phone & face to face engagement to secure their participation at the live event and where possible. With the aim to curate the most representative and inclusive group possible.
Work collaboratively with the Beirut DC's Good Pitch بالعربي team and our partners to brainstorm potential participants across sectors, utilizing their combined decades of experience to fast-track creating prospects and priorities.
To research potential participants and to create an event of 200+ attendees that include the most effective and impactful local organizations, funders, media partners and community leaders.
To help prepare briefing materials for the live event for the production team and the event moderator.
To collate evaluation and monitoring information for the Good Pitch بالعربي program as per the needs of our funders and partners after the live event.
We are looking for a strategic thinker, great communicator and non-fiction film champion, a seasoned networker and relationship builder. The ideal candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to apply them with enthusiasm and confidence as part of a small team in a dynamic, creative and hardworking not-for-profit environment.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking to work with a colleague who has a minimum of five years of experience in social sector outreach work and social justice campaigns and/or documentary impact producing
Highly organized, effective and proactive communicator adept at working with a wide variety of constituent groups from multiple sectors and work styles.
Excited to work with Beirut DC, a creative and innovative, international non-profit which supports great documentary films and creates programs to advance their impact globally.
A good listener, able to quickly research and gain understanding of issue areas and communities and navigate complex relationships with grace.
A strategic thinker, able to assess opportunities, make connections and envision potential outcomes.
Experience in community organizing, local coalition building and live community events is considered a plus.
Other:
Comfortable working in an agile organization and happy to work across multiple projects to tight deadlines.

Encouraging and enhancing a creative cinematic movement in the Arab World through varying modes of promotion, production, training and co-production meetings.
Supporting Arab independent filmmakers and producers by encouraging them to create films that question socially established norms and beliefs.
Urging change and the development of new personalized cinematic approaches
Using art and cinema to communicate across the largest audience possible, ultimately, transforming the art of film into a tool that reaches all communities and societies.
Normalizing Cinema by making it readily available for everyone to enjoy as opposed to its current status as a luxury good.
