Project Overview
Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last 5 years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on a number of protection initiatives aiming to reduce violence against women and children, along with women and youth empowerment.
In partnership with UNICEF, AND is currently implementing a child rights project aiming at raising awareness about children rights with children and caregivers, empowering duty bearers to realize the importance of children rights, and provide a safe space for boys and girls to actively participate in this process and voice their needs.
AND is implement this initiative in Wadi Khaled and Sahel. Throughout this project, AND team will conduct a mapping of existing bodies and/or committees dealing with children rights, organize awareness sessions and collaborate with the existing bodies/committees thus establishing 2 steering committees ( SC) (community based inclusive of existing bodies and/or caregivers) and 2 children committees (CC) ( community based, inclusive of children living in the areas). AND will build the capacity of these committees by facilitating the coordination of existing bodies, aligning their mission and visions, and providing customized material about children rights, communities role in securing these rights…This capacity building shall take the form of a retreat and workshops. The retreat days and workshop/training day will focus on: children rights, concept of children friendly cities and child rights policies for the Steering Committee. Whereas the Children Committee will focus on: team work, children rights, youth policy, local governance and citizenship.
The purpose of this consultancy is to help us identify their own perception of children rights, their aspirations and their mission and vision for this committee & to produce learning and training materials based on UNICEF’s guidelines & applicable related laws.
Areas of Responsibility: Life skills
The main task to be completed by the consultant shall be:
- Facilitating the discussions of the committees members on their role, mission, vision, future interventions… to help drawing a road map for future potential intervention
- Providing training workshops for SC on children rights and more specifically on three priorities: right to education, right to participation, right to health and survival and right to protection, concept of children friendly cities and child rights policies.
- Providing training workshops for CC on team work, children rights, youth policy, local governance and citizenship.
- Providing all related materials to be used with each target group to ensure proper delivery of training workshops on child rights.
Training locations: Sahel and Wade Khaled area /Akkar.
Deliverables
The consultant shall be responsible for the following deliverables.
- Detailed report on the discussion process and outcomes, along with the roadmap
- Training Program and schedule.
- Training Curricula (Power point presentations, videos, forms, exercises, etc. for training sessions ;)
- Final Appraisal at the end of the training.
Level of Effort
The Consultant shall have the following number of days allotted for this task:

Reporting
The consultant shall report to the Project Manager.
