Education Officer

Areas of Responsibility: Education Officer

General objective of the job

The Education Officer monitors, coordinates, and supports teachers and facilitators involved in the SHIELD program. S/he will be in charge of the overview of activities at the community/ learning centers with AND. S/he will coordinate closely with the SHIELD education team, and ensure quality education delivery, supporting SHIELD management team in the daily implementation of activities, and determine the progress and identify gaps and challenges in terms of curriculum delivery, learning materials, attendance, safe space and community engagement.

  1. Supporting teachers and facilitators
  •  Prepares and follow-up monthly calendar in the centers as per the project’s goals
  • Ensure deliverables and targets are met
  • Assesses facilitators’ and/or teachers training needs based on center visits and collection of regular data
  • Provide technical support to teachers and facilitators in preparation of activities
  • Assists in developing a monitoring and evaluation framework
  • Ensures, promotes and facilitates the principles of child protection, child safety and child participation are integrated into all program activities
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports on facilitators’ and children’s performance in a timely manner
  • Ensures a strict adherence to Child Safety and Protection Policies at all times including respect for confidentiality and child centered approach, acts in the best interests of the child

2.         Coordinating and communicating

  • Coordinates professional development opportunities and workshops as requested
  • Organizes regular meetings with project stakeholders
  • Ensures child protection concerns are communicated to the management team
  • Coordinates and communicates with SHIELD Management team
  • Coordinates, communicates, and collaborates closely with community focal points, outreach staff, and social workers.

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree in Education, social sciences or relevant major
  • Experience in child-centered approach and other new teaching methodologies
  • Experience in mentoring
  • Good knowledge in the Lebanese Primary educational system and curricula  
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate quality education

Reporting

The Education officer shall report to the project manager.
