Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last 6 years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on a number of protection initiatives aiming to reduce violence against women and children, along with women and youth empowerment.
In partnership with UNICEF, AND is currently implementing a child rights project aiming at raising awareness about children rights with children and caregivers, empowering duty bearers to realize the importance of children rights, and provide a safe space for boys and girls to actively participate in this process and voice their needs.
AND is implement this initiative in Wadi Khaled and Sahel. Throughout this project, AND team will organize awareness sessions and collaborate with the existing bodies/committees, 2 steering committees (SC) and 2 children committees (CC). AND will organize discussion rounds on children rights with the participation of a consultant/expert on substance abuse, local authority representatives, SC representatives and children from the communities.
Areas of Responsibility: Life skills
The main task to be completed by the expert shall be:
- Facilitating the discussions regarding the substance abuse.
- Brainstorming “drug”/ Drug definition- common drugs
- Providing reasons, risk & protective factors of drug abuse, Signs and symptoms of substance abuse.
- How to deal with someone who is at risk and steps to live without drugs.
- Informing the participants on the current Lebanese legal framework and any advocacy initiatives in this respect, and/or any mitigation measures.
Platform location: Wade Khaled area /Akkar.
Deliverables

- Detailed report on the discussion process and outcomes
