Food safety specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Food safety specialist is responsible for meeting all food safety standards.
  • He/She should oversee food processing, packaging and distribution, while ensuring respect of these standards.
  • He/She is requested to have a regular presence at the kitchen and provide a daily follow up on the women’s performance while preparing the meals.
  • Prepare training on food safety and hygiene measures, namely on basic food safety and nutrition standards including sessions on food safety and control, notions of personal hygiene, pest control, cleaning and disinfecting as well as safe handling and storage of food.
  • Help to identify potential food hazards and introduce procedures to make sure those hazards are removed or reduced to an acceptable level. 
  • Support in selection of daily dishes and help in determining ingredients, quantities…..
  • Help in identifying all kitchen’s needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in food science, nutrition or any related degree.
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years' relevant experience in food safety expertise/cooking…..
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize.
  • Works well in a team, flexible, and able to handle pressure well and able to move in the field.
  • Computer literacy preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and analysis competencies.

Reporting

The Food safety specialist shall report to the project manager.
