Whereas AND is currently implementing the UNICEF funded project “Safer communities for women and adolescent girls” in Akkar ( 3 static safe spaces: Halba, Hissa, and Hrar ), and is currently running mobile and static safe women spaces that provides holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV).  And since AND needs to have a systemic approach to GBV and Protection, the GBV specialist shall work on two levels within AND; the field level and the management level. Support to the field level shall ensure that adequate services are provided in accordance with SOP, and best practices, whereas the support to the management shall strengthen the organizational capacity in terms of protection streamlining within AND. In this respect, the GBV specialist is required to ensure “quality control” of the services provided in the centers. Thus, the GBV specialist is expected to work on the following two pillars: o   AND team ·       Assessment of gaps and needs of the teams in each of the three centers: §  Assessment of team members’ knowledge ·       Review of all principles of humanitarian work (i.e. do no harm, impartiality, neutrality…) ·       Review of all GBV core principles (i.e. confidentiality, privacy, security….) ·       Train team members on GBV core principles (namely mental health team) §  Assessment of team members practice in conducting all the activities included in the “Safer communities for women and adolescent girls” project: ·       Establish a team and/or individualized learning plan ·       Support M&E and AND management to establish a weaknesses and strengths’ review of AND’s team performance   o   AND’s intervention in Protection ·       Upgrade AND’s intervention as follows ·       Case management in mobile and static safe spaces o   Review and/or draft the needed tools/documents o   Review and/or establish the filing system o   Review and/or establish an updated services directory o   Ensure respect of operating standards, whether in person or via phone o   Ensure a thorough knowledge of the specialized services o   Provision of weekly coaching ·       Info session o   Review and/or draft the material o   Review and/or establish guidelines for topics selection o   Review and/or establish guidelines for topics delivery ·       PSS activities o   Review and/or draft the activities planning o   Review and/or establish guidelines for activity selection o   Review and establish guidelines for activity implementation o   Conduct weekly coaching to the information and awareness session delivered at the field level o    To share feedback with animators and AND’s management ·       Safety audits and GBV risk assessment o   Review and/or establish guidelines for conducting Safety Audit and GBV risk assessment, and the differences between them o   Provide guidance for the team on the different ways of conducting the audits, and assessments, along with the required follow up actions o   Provide hands-on coaching ·       Outreach o   Review and/or establish guidelines for the presentation of the safe spaces in the communities/ what to include in the info session o   Review and/or establish guidelines for the presentation of the available services §  Establishing guidelines/guidance document for each activity ( focus group discussions, info sessions- How to present the case management services / how to present AND in the community-, case management –minimum criteria for mobile case management/ case management via phone/ collaboration between mental health and case management-, awareness sessions, identification of cases within life skills and skills building sessions, Coordinate with mental health specialist to highlight on the roles of psychotherapist vs social worker and when is referral made…) that includes ·       Activity planning o   Why are we conducting this activity? o   How does it fall within the whole intervention? o   What is the message to the targeted audience? o   How to prepare for it? ·       Activity sheet/Guidance note o   Set-up for the activity o   Needed material and conformity with the interagency curricula o   Explanation of conducting the activity in a safe and interactive way ·       Activities complementarity o   Provide guidance on incorporation of preventive and curative approach o   Provide guidance on collaboration between case management and mental health §  Support in establishing and/or upgrading the GBV services mapping system ·       Prepare and/or adapt GBV service mapping tools ·       Review and/or establish GBV service mapping to produce a functional GBV referral network in the 3 areas of intervention ·       Prepare and/or review and follow-up on the implementation of GBV case management forms and tools §  Prepare supervision tools/guidelines for management team §  Work in close coordination with respective representative from IRC within the capacity building plan they have for AND team
