Life Skills Trainer

1. Background Akkar Network for Development (AND) is implementing a project that aims at supporting Lebanese and Syrian women in conflict areas in Akkar through vocational, business and life skills trainings to develop their SMEs. This project targets 200 women (Lebanese and Syrian) from several villages in Akkar, and from different Syrian shelters in the region. 2.    Objective/Purpose of the assignment The Life Skills Trainer will be responsible of developing lesson plans and other instruction material to be used in the Life Skills Training module. S/he will assist and report to the Project Manager. 3.    Scope of Work The Life Skills Trainer will work along with the Project officers and Field Officers under the supervision and guidance of the Project Manager for the attainment of the project’s goal. 4.    Duties and Responsibilities of Life Skills Trainer The Life Skills Trainer will be responsible of the following tasks: Identify the life skills needs of beneficiaries. Be responsible for defining the goals and the methods used for the Life Skills Teaching Module. Teach occupational, career and vocational subjects to the beneficiaries. Schedule work and activities related to the Life Skills Training Module. Prepare appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning. Maintain a record of beneficiaries’ attendance and provide feedback. Control assigned class equipment and supplies to prevent loss or abuse.  5.    Competencies The Life Skills Trainer should demonstrate experience in Life Skills teaching/training. Strong communication and facilitation skills and ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders in a sensitive environment. S/he must be able to respond quickly for requests for information. S/he should demonstrate strong interpersonal and motivational skills and sensitivity to the local environment as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent data analytical skills and interpretation.  6.     Required qualifications: Undergraduate degree/advanced diploma in education, social sciences, humanities or related field. Good knowledge of local context and community in the region of Akkar, Lebanon. Languages: Fluency (native speaker) in written and spoken Arabic, good working knowledge of written and spoken English. IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and strong team spirit. Self-motivated and organized with a demonstrated capacity to manage time and personal work plan.
