In partnership with UNICEF, AND is operating safe spaces in Akkar (static and mobile) for women and adolescent girls. These spaces provide holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations Syrian and Lebanese, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma. AND is seeking a trainer with a strong background on nutrition.
These services include skills building trainings for women and girls on several, diverse topics including nutrition. Thus the need for a Nutrition trainer. The trainer is required to coordinate with the project manager to combine the needs of the trainees with the training’s curriculum and material in accordance with protection priorities determined for the women and children.
Areas of Responsibilities:
AND is seeking the expertise of a nutrition expert to conduct a 12 hours workshop that covers the following:
The main topics to be included in the training session/day shall be:
- Introduction to healthy lifestyle and basics of a balanced diet.
- Body measurement and calory needs for different ages.
- Myth and Misconception about food and diets (supplements, FAD, KETO..)
- Nutrition ethics and guidance on children and adolescent needs for a healthy growth process including guidance on healthy diet in light of the actual situation of shortages of food supplies.
- Nutrition related disease (especially chronic diseases e.g: diabetes and hypertension).
- Basics to healthy cooking.
The trainer shall demonstrate the following:
- Punctuality and adherence to AND’s code of conduct.
- Stick to awareness raising and avoid medical discussions and prescriptions.
- Use simple language to communicate information with total clarity and efficiency.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be personable and diplomatic in working with a diverse range of people.
The consultant shall be responsible for the following deliverables.
- Workshop syllabus and timetable.
- Materials used throughout the workshop (Power point presentations, videos, forms, exercises).
- Appraisal by the end of the training including further recommendations.
The trainer shall provide the training to a group of 10 women in Akkar.
Learning shall be provided in cycles. A training cycle of 12 hours divided by 4 days.
Training locations: in the safe space Miniara –Hrar and SDC Hissa – Akkar.
