Outreach Worker

Areas of Responsibility: Akkar Area

The outreach workers will ensure increased information to women and girls about services and engagement of women and girls in risk reduction activities. They will facilitate outreach visits, community awareness raising on available services, risk identification and action planning in coordination with Senior Outreach Workers, and social workers.

The Outreach Workers will be trained and supervised by the Center Coordinator.

Community outreach

  • Assist the social workers in identifying vulnerable communities and identify areas where high density of refugees exist for service referral, particularly new arrivals to target with outreach
  • Organize a minimum of 2 weekly outreach visits to provide information about services, conduct activities with women and girls to identify risks to their safety and security in the community, distribute brochures, leaflets and service notes and develop community-based strategies to address identified risks
  • Equip and update Community mobilizer with information about available services in their locations
  • Raise awareness of women and girls on topics including: GBV, sexual and reproductive health, hygiene, positive parenting, life skills, etc.
  • Facilitate confidential referrals to the Social workers when there is a need for specialized and necessary support or case management and access to adequate services.
  • Facilitate the working process of the team inside the centers and at mobile safe spaces’ locations if or when needed.
  • Identify and prioritize areas where high density or vulnerable population exist for service referral and outreach
  • With the support and supervision of Community mobilizer, conduct regular assessments of women and girls’ safety in their community and report findings to Community mobilizer for follow up action

Trainings and meetings

Participate in core skill building training and/or learning modules, as required

Job Requirements:

Required

  • Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize.
  • Works well in a team, flexible, and able to handle pressure well and able to move in the field
  • Computer literacy preferred but not required.
  • Fluency in Arabic required. Basic ability to communicate in English helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication skills

Reporting

The provider of services shall report to the WPE Center coordinator
