Chief Accountant

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works on the bank opening/closing process and updates the bank information.
  • Prepares and submits monthly bank reconciliations for each bank account that it manages.
  • Verifies, allocates, posts and reconciles accounts payable and receivable.
  • Produces error-free accounting reports for management.
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
  • Analyzes financial information and summarizes financial status.
  • Prepares financial statements and produces budget according to schedule.
  • Directs internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP principles
  • Secures the cash under lock and key until it deposited at the bank and files all the receipt documents along with the bank deposit slip.
  • Prepares payroll calculation, transfer letters, pay slips, issues check and prepare a table itemizing all legally required employer tax and payments due to local government authorities.
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Manage all accounting operations based on accounting principles.
  • Prepare budget and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end close process.
  • Compute taxes and prepare tax returns, balance sheet, profit/loss statement etc.
  • Collaborates with the procurement department.
  • Audit financial transactions and document accounting control procedures.
  • Keep information confidential and secure them with random database backups.
  • Keep up with financial policies, regulation and legislation.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Professional Experience

  • At least 2 years of clerical experience in the area of finance and accounting.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Hands-on experience with different accounting software.

Skills

  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic. (French is a plus)
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Highly organized and attentive to details.
  • initiative, high sense of responsibility, organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
