- Purpose
Al Fayhaa Association seeks to hire a “Gender Equality Specialist” consultant to be part of a project that will run in Jordan. The project aims to support Jordan’s MoE in the area of gender equality in order to ensure effective and resource efficient programming and the integration of gender equality consideration in planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of activities related to the Domain 2 of the ESP on access and equity, including the AAI 2.0 Program, with the ultimate goal of contributing to better development results in the education sector in Jordan. This includes supporting the consistent integration of gender equality as a crosscutting theme, as well as building the capacity of MoE staff in that regards.
- Duties and Responsibilities
The tasks of the Gender Equality Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Strategic advice and analysis on the mainstreaming of gender equality in all the targeted programs
- Liaison and coordination across departments
- Capacity building.
- Reporting and knowledge management
- Design and development of tools and products

- Required Qualifications
A- Advanced university degree PhD or Master’s in gender equality studies, women studies, policy and administration, education, social sciences, international development/relations, political science, human rights, sociology
B- Must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a gender equality specialist or in gender equality in the Middle East and North Africa region (Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen)
C- Should provide assignments to demonstrate his or her experience performing services in Gender Equality Services. Demonstrated cumulative experience providing technical assistance and/or advisory services related to the integration of gender equality issues and considerations in planning, design, monitoring and evaluation of education projects, programs, plans, or strategies for children and youth in vulnerable situations (e.g. refugees, displaced children, children with disabilities, out-of-school children). - Experience working on child protection projects, programs, plans, or strategies is a plus.
D- Should demonstrate experience working with multiple stakeholders (employee, NGOs, donor agencies, private sector firms,..)
E- Should demonstrated experience conducting or writing gender-based analyses of projects, programs, plans and strategies
F- Should demonstrate cumulative experience developing and providing gender equality knowledge-building activities (training, coaching, mentoring)
G- Should demonstrate cumulative experience developing tools and products related to inclusive education or child protection issues
H- The proposed individual must be fluent (proficiency level 4) in spoken and written English and Arabic languages.
