Assistant/Community Development Center

The overall purpose of the role: 

 
The Center Assistant ensures that all activities are implemented and reported in compliance with DRC policies and work plan.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, implement, and evaluate activities and sessions including (Awareness sessions, Skills Trainings, Life Skills sessions, Recreational activities, Community Initiatives, Community events, and other relevant CDC activities).
  • Provide direct supervision and support to CDC trainers in the performance of their respective duties and ensure the efficient functioning of the project.
  • Lead FGDs with beneficiaries to identify activities needed for the CDC on a continuous basis.
  • Supervise 1 community group and Follow up on roles and responsibilities of the community groups and report on their achievements
  • Increase community awareness, mobilization, enrolment, and engagement in CDC activities (through disseminating information, coordination meetings...)
  • Coordinate closely with the Referral to protection assistants for persons of concern and participants in the CDC.
  • Coordinate closely and report with the project manager to keep track of targets related to the CDC activities.
  • Data entry on the Kobo system and other systems required by the donor.
  • Handle all administrative and financial matters related to the direct reports and the CDC (Procurement, logistics).
  • Perform other duties, as needed or requested by the supervisor

 

Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

  • At least three years of prior professional experience in a similar post with NGO.
  • Team management experience.
  • Good protection background and knowledge of refugee context.
  • Good knowledge of community center management.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of beneficiaries at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility with a positive attitude.
  • Strong team spirit, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed and ability to handle pressure well.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Skilled in modern Information Technology.
