French Social and Emotional Learning Specialist

DESCRIPTION: 

  • Familiarity with SEL Standards and evidence-based approaches for SEL in the classroom
  • Cultural competency and ability to navigate and promote sensitivity with teachers from different backgrounds
  • Work with French technical team to ensure that SEL curriculum is integrated in the French curriculum for grades 1-6 within social, emotional and cognitive domains and constructs such as attention, working memory, impulse control, cognitive flexibility, critical thinking, emotional awareness, coping strategies, emotion regulation, communication, empathy, and relationships
  • Develop explicit SEL-Integrated lessons for grades 1 to 6 in accordance with the scope and sequence for the French curriculum
  • Include suggested kernels (short, targeted SEL activities that allow explicit practice of the SEL skill) within the scope and sequence framework
  • Participate in program review and reflection meetings
  • Stay up-to-date of advancements in the SEL training field, benchmarks programs, and analyze their potential application to QITABI 2   
  • Collaborate with ALLC French technical team and QITABI 2 partners to design SEL related data collection tools
  • Implement SEL M&E tools
  • Refine SEL materials based on learning from tracking and monitoring the use of developed materials

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, education, psychology, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience is required, especially in material and TOT development.

Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience working with students with behavior-related issues with a focus on SEL, in Lebanon. Demonstrated experience working on donor funded projects with similar scopes of work preferred. 

  • Experience working with students with behavior-related issues
  • Comprehensive knowledge understanding of and commitment to social and emotion learning.
  • Strong rapport with adults, youth, children
  • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Demonstrated expertise in SEL, program design and implementation, and training. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written French and Arabic is required and in English preferred.
  • Must be able to use the language fluently and accurately and be able to read all styles and forms on all levels pertinent to professional needs
