Background
As part of the LHF-funded education project, a holistic approach is adopted to enhance both the academic performance and the overall well-being of children affected by conflict and displacement. In addition to academic support, the project integrates a dedicated well-being component, addressing the mental and emotional health of learners through regular engagement with parents, teachers, and community members.
Purpose of the Position
The Animator will play a central role in supporting children’s psychosocial well-being and learning readiness by delivering weekly structured recreational and psychosocial activities in each education center. These activities aim to strengthen creativity, collaboration, communication, and emotional resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a weekly activity plan that aligns with the program’s learning and well-being objectives.
- Conduct structured recreational sessions using Hope & Sports tools and PSS kits, including:
- Handicrafts, drawing, and painting
- Role-playing and theatrical activities
- Group games and physical activities - Foster children's skills in:
- Creative thinking
- Group collaboration
- Critical thinking
- Oral expression and communication - Promote cultural awareness, respect for others, and inclusivity through activities.
- Coordinate with educators, field coordinator to ensure activities complement academic and emotional support services.
- Identify children in need of additional support and refer them to the center’s psychotherapist.
- Participate in capacity building sessions and team coordination meetings.
- Ensure that PSS tools and materials are properly managed and used effectively.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree or diploma in education, psychology, social work, arts, or a related field.
- Previous experience in child animation, psychosocial support, or non-formal education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children.
- Knowledge of child protection principles and do-no-harm approaches.
- Familiarity with Hope & Sports methodology is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions
- The animator will work part-time during afternoon hours, based at the designated education center(s), and is expected to deliver sessions weekly as per the project schedule.
- Occasional travel for training or coordination may be required.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor degree from an accredited university.
- 1 - 2 years of experience
