ART THERAPIST

The art therapist will organize an Art therapy workshop for the girls and women at one of Amel’s safe spaces for girls and women located in Bourj Hammoud, Nabatieh, Kfarhamam, Mashghara, and Douris on a three months’ workshop duration, where 2 workshops will take place in each center during this year. He/she works under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator and Project Coordinator. He/she is responsible for delivering Art therapy sessions for girls and women. This workshop will support beneficiaries to explore, address and deal with personal and social difficulties and to be able to think differently about their experience through challenging anxious thoughts and changing the problematic coping responses into positive ones.

• Assessing the needs and priorities of the girls and women.
• Developing suitable art therapy programs for beneficiaries based on their needs, and preferred forms of artistic expression.
• Providing clear objectives on art therapy for the beneficiaries.
• Maintaining the workshop and equipment.
• Conducting 8 art therapy sessions with beneficiaries using various types of visual art, including drawing, sculpting, painting, ceramics, and clay modelling. Etc.
• Teaching beneficiaries coping skills and strategies to enable them to deal with challenging and traumatic experiences.
• Discussing with the beneficiaries their artworks to evaluate the meaning and emotions behind the artworks.
• Developing with the participants an exhibition that will be presented at the end of the workshop.
• Referring safely the beneficiaries to Amel’s caseworker and psychotherapist when needed.
• Preparing and submitting a final report covering detailed records of beneficiaries' progress as well as observations made during art therapy sessions.
