The Child Caregiver will be responsible for creating a safe and stimulating environment for children while their caregivers access the services provided. This includes supervising children between 4 and 10 years old, to ensure their safety and well-being, organizing age-appropriate play-based activities that promote their emotional and social development, while providing attentive care adapted to their individual needs.
The Child Caregiver is based at Amel’s Burj El Barajneh center, working three to four days per week under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator and in collaboration with other team members.
Main Responsibilities:
Ensure a safe and supportive environment for the children
- Supervise children at all times to guarantee their physical and emotional safety.
- Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and order in the dedicated child-friendly space.
Engage children in games and development activities
- Design and implement recreational and play-based activities according to the age of the children.
- Promote children’s development by encouraging socialization and engagement in activities with other children.
Coordinate with other staffs and caregivers
- Work in close collaboration with the project team, mainly the social worker and caseworker, to ensure holistic care of the children and their caregivers.
- Identify and report any protection concerns or behaviors to the Field coordinator.
- Maintain open communication with caregivers to discuss the child’s behavior, emotional well-being or any concerns that may arise.

EDUCATION DEGREE DETAILS:
- Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and good command of English (speaking, reading, writing),
- Education degree: Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Social Work or a related field,
- Proven experience as a child caregiver or similar roles is mandatory,
- Previous volunteering experience with NGOs would be a strong asset,
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate behavior,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Patient, reliable and trustworthy,
- Respect of professional confidentiality,
- Capacity to work in a multicultural team.
Working Hours
- The Child Caregiver is expected to work three days per week, possibly up to four, with the schedule to be determined in coordination with the team and based on the center’s activity plan. Working hours are between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, depending on the finalized schedule.
