Background

Amel program for the support of Migrant Workers and Counter-Trafficking was established in 2011 to alleviate exploitation, discrimination, violence and trafficking. Efforts are produced to ensure more human relationship between the employer and the employee based on rights and duties. Protection is strived through advocacy, coordination, empowerment, awareness raising, action-based research, voluntary return, provision of services (social, health, psycho-social and legal services), emergency response and coordination with countries of origin. The program succeeded to support so far thousands of beneficiaries from different African and South East countries. Activities are conducted in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and the South, as well as on an international level in coordination with Arab and European countries.

 

The part-time position is under supervision of the Program Coordinator, Field Coordinator, Head of Center, Amel Administration and Finance, and in close collaboration with Amel Workers, MWs Team, and the teams in the centers.

The position of Driver is a key position to coordinate and implement the activities of the program supporting Migrant Workers and Victims of Human Trafficking through Amel centers, and in collaboration with various stakeholders (NGOs, Governmental Organization, INGOs, Community leaders, other), to protect and empower this vulnerable population.

 

 

JOB PURPOSE

To lead the team on a determined geographical area and to participate actively in the meetings and care taken, ensuring the safety of users, crew and vehicle.

Responsibility n°1: Guarantee vehicle maintenance

- Activity 1.1: Check the condition of the vehicle before departure and return and report any malfunction to the coordinator

- Activity 1.2: Fill in the logbook of the vehicle at each use

- Activity 1.3: Raise the need for equipment capable of optimizing field action

Responsibility n°2: Ensure the safety of the staff and persons during interventions

- Activity 2.1: Make sure that the area of intervention is safe before stopping the vehicle and also that passengers are properly installed before transport

- Activity 2.2: Observe the environment during operations to be able to evacuate quickly in the event of danger

- activity 2.3: Notify the team and the coordinator of any security issues, including during service meetings

- activity 2.4: Undertake other activities and tasks related to the success of project activities

 

Responsibility n ° 3: Contribute to the creation of the social link with the people met

- Activity 3.1: Facilitating the informal group discussions necessary for the creation of a support relationship

- Activity 3.2: Actively participate in the care of the beneficiaries by helping the social worker and the nurse any time necessary

- Activity 3.3: Interact with the communities during the night round to explain the activities undertaken

- Knowing and respecting the highway code
- An experience in a medico-social field would be a plus
